Sessions are walking portrait sessions: we meet at a starting point and shoot while strolling through the streets. We choose spots as we go, based on what you like and the mood of the day, so backgrounds and locations may change during the shoot.

FAQ
- Is this a good idea if it's my first time in Japan?
- Definitely. A lot of my clients are first-timers, and half the fun is exploring while we shoot. You don't need to know the city — I lead the way and handle the route.
- I'm awkward in front of a camera. Do you help with posing?
- Yes, but never stiffly. I give small, easy cues and keep us walking and talking, so you're doing something rather than posing. Most people forget the camera within a few minutes.
- What happens if it rains?
- We can reschedule, or shoot anyway — covered arcades, cafés and neon-lit streets look great in the rain. It's your call on the day.
- Can you recommend photo locations?
- That's my favourite part. Tell me the mood you want — historic, neon, quiet backstreets, iconic — and I'll suggest spots in Osaka, Kyoto or Nara that fit and photograph beautifully.
- Can we wear kimono?
- Yes, and it looks wonderful on camera, especially in Kyoto. Rental isn't included, but I'll point you to good rental shops and we'll build the shoot around it.
- How many photos do we get?
- From 30 fully edited images on the Travel Portraits session up to 100 on the Half-Day. Every delivered photo is colour- and exposure-corrected.
- When will we get our photos?
- About 3–5 days after the shoot, delivered as a private online album you can download and share.
- Can families or groups book?
- Absolutely — solo, couples, families and groups of friends are all welcome. Just tell me the headcount when you book so we allow enough time.
- Can you help us plan the route?
- Yes. For the longer sessions I map out a walking route so the locations flow and we're not backtracking. You just show up and enjoy the day.
- Do you do proposals or surprise shoots?
- I do — discreet proposals and surprise shoots are one of my specialty sessions. Message me the plan and I'll help you pull it off.
- What should we wear?
- Whatever feels like you. Solid colours read well against busy streets; bring a second outfit if you'd like variety. I'm happy to advise once we've picked the locations.
- Can I book last minute?
- Often yes, depending on the calendar. Send me your dates and I'll tell you what's open — last minute is always worth asking about.
