Hi, I'm Chris, a photographer based in Osaka. I love taking photos, but just as much, I love meeting people, talking, and wandering the city capturing the moments in between.
For me, a photoshoot is really just a good conversation with a camera. When you feel comfortable, the photos become more genuine, and by the end it shouldn't feel like a photographer and a client. It should feel like two people who spent an afternoon exploring the city together.
I'm not into stiff posing. I'd rather show where you were and what you were doing, walking a neighborhood, leaning against a wall, stepping into a little shop. The best photos are the ones that remind you what the moment actually felt like.
Some of my favorite photographs aren't technically perfect. They're the ones that instantly bring back a memory. In Japan there's even a word for that, wabi-sabi: beauty in imperfection.
I've lived in Japan for over 15 years, and somewhere along the way Osaka became home and I became a photographer. People say that if you love what you do, it never feels like work. That's exactly what this has become.
